The Never Alone Girls Empowerment Program unlocks the potential in young at-risk girls in Bangladesh to give them and their families a viable path away from child marriage.
To accomplish this, girls are selected through a careful process at partner schools.
Girls in the program are matched to a Fellow who mentors, trains, and supports them in and beyond the program.
The program at a glance
All of the girls in the program are carefully placed into cohorts where they cover the curriculum, engage in high level conversations around their communities, and receive one on one mentorship.
Our approach is simple: give girls the tools to succeed and change minds
- Partner with local schools to deliver the program
- Select girls at risk for child marriage for participation
- Develop girls with new skills, knowledge, and experience
- Show parents a viable path forward, with their daughters free
Curriculum Overview
Below are each of the key areas of the curriculum
The core skill the girls learn is around how to create and operate a business. This unlocks earning potential and also provides them opportunity to help their parents in any small business they may work in.
Understanding the foundations of personal finance helps the girls to understand how they can manage income with everything from banking to budgeting
Being the first young girl to understand these hard skills is a heavy burden to carry, so we make sure to give them direct training on how to hold their heads up high and lead the next generation.
All focus areas of the curriculum involve hands on activities and many are accompanies by field experiences where they can apply their learning to help each other and their communities.
